Since 1965, Terracon has grown from a small Iowa geotechnical firm to a large, multifaceted national firm. Terracon has more than 3,000 employees and more than 95 offices nationwide. They have consistently achieved growth above the industry average, evidenced by a current ranking of fifty-one in Engineering News-Record’s 2007 listing of the Top 500 Design Firms.

Challenge

When Terracon began to take a fresh look at its public Web site, the communications team looked to Trabon to help them define the project and more closely align Terracon’s Web assets with its culture and business goals. It was important the new site matched the size and sophistication of the company, reflecting its growth from a regional to national player in the engineering field. The site redesign needed to provide a way to manage content and a platform for dynamic public relations and marketing messaging to help Terracon to continue to attract the best engineering professionals in the world.

Strategies and Tactics

Trabon worked quickly to build a new generation site to serve the company’s growing needs. Collaborating closely with the Terracon team on design and leveraging Trabon’s portal foundation, Trabon completed the site on-time and in-budget. Trabon optimized the site for search and continues to provide monthly system analytics to Terracon to evaluate the site’s objectives.
